If you ever decide to buy a house, let me give you a little hint. DON’T! You will be better off to find a baseball-sized rock and repeatedly hit yourself in the head. That will save you a lot of time, effort and money and still have the same outcome. lol Yes, I’m being a bit dramatic. I am in the process of buying my first house and it has been long and frustrating. Mainly because of the lawyer. After all, I don’t feel that it should take TWO MONTHS just to send out a form letter, but what do I know? I’m just an accountant.
Now that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel I have decided that it would be okay to purchase a few things for my new place. Would you like to see what I’ve squirreled away?
First we have the end tables that my mom bought me for $15 at the flea market:
You can only see the one, but it’s sitting on the second one. Yes, she got both of these for $15 total. No, I don’t know how she manages to do it. lol. I have no idea how my living room will be set up, but these will be in there somewhere.
The next items were found online due to the morning news program that I watch while getting ready for work. They had a daily deal for some stainless steel mixing bowls with anti-skid silicone on the bottoms.
Everybody needs a set of stainless steel mixing bowls, right? I already have my Pyrex bowls in the attic so I’m all set there. The next part of the deal was a set of stainless steel kitchen utensils (ladle, serving spoons, etc).
Because I don’t like to be cold at night I have fallen in love with flannel sheets. I have two sets, but I’m always afraid that I’m going to wear them out. Sears had a sale going last week where the flannel sheet sets were 40% off, plus I had an additional 10% off coupon. So I bought myself a new set.
I’m not usually a red person, but these struck my fancy so I decided to go for it.
Now, when I move I’m taking Bob and Chester with me. Bissell and Elmer will be staying at my parents’ house. A few years ago I bought a drinking fountain water dish for the cats because the running water encourages them to drink more, and I’m always worried about Urinary Tract Infections in the boys. I had figured that I would be taking the water dish with me, but my mother decided that she would need it since she would still have two cats plus the dog. So I had to order another one because Bob and Chester love it as well. I haven’t removed it from the box, but it’s the same model as this one:
With any kind of luck Bob will be able to recognize when his tail is in the new one. lol
Finally, my BIG purchase. Technically I haven’t purchased this yet, but I talked to the owner of the store yesterday and he said that it should be ready for me by the end of the week.
This is a Rainbow Vacuum cleaner, E series. These are expensive machines, but they last for ever! They are also very good for people who have allergies (like me). You see, they are a bagless canister vac. The reason why they are so good for people with allergies is that the dust and dirt gets sucked into the canister, which has water in the bottom of it to catch and hold all dust particles. When you are done vacuuming you dump the water and dirt either outside or down the toilet and that’s it. The E series also has a hepa filter to make sure that it isn’t letting anything escape back into the air.
They have different floor heads and attachments with them:
So I will be able to use it on my hardwood floors to suck the dust and cat hair up and out of the environment, instead of just pushing it around with a dust mop. The one that I’m buying is reconditioned, but the guy has gone over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure that everything is working correctly. He has ordered a new hepa filter for it, along with a new set of attachments. I am spending a LOT on this vacuum, but it’s a steal as compared to what I’ve been able to find elsewhere and it will last me at least 10 years if not more. My mother has had two Rainbows and I believe that they both lasted her at least 10 years, and they were used when she got them.
That’s my exciting news for this week!
